Manufacturing plays an important role in strengthening Queensland’s economy. Manufacturing provides employment, exports, brings in important investment and is responsible for innovation. In 2017 the Queensland Productivity Commission found that manufacturing contributed approximately $20 billion in gross value to the Queensland economy and over 168,000 workers. It is an incredibly diverse sector and includes food, metal, petroleum and coal products, furniture, leather, clothing, and footwear. The size and scope of firms also differ. Given ever-changing global trends, the businesses continue to require training and specialist support to grow and thrive.

For the next few months, IM’s Leesa Watego is pleased to be working again with Emma Kerslake from Yolla Consulting, as well as Michael Morrow, Frank Green and Kathy Macdonald to deliver a business growth program for South East Queensland’s manufacturing sector. The program will run for 9 sessions with an additional expo, and will cover topics such as strategy and planning, digital security and digital marketing, understanding your clients, procurement and tendering, lean manufacturing and business processes.

A select number of participants will be eligible for on-going mentoring. Participants can attend the entire program or just the sessions they feel are valuable.

Manufacturing Business Growth Program is delivered by TAFE Queensland and is fully funded through the Department of Small Business and Training.
